It is not about yellow journalism, but seriously instead of publishing newspapers why don't we just have tabloids because as a mass we only like gossip as news and thats what is served to us deliciously. Is Shilpa Shetty pregnant, Vijendra Singh married a nobody from Delhi, Baba Ramdev jumped amongst women to save himself and etcetra etcetra. These were all front page news at some point through the year. Why do u want to know who Vijendra Singh wants to marry? Or even if Shilpa Shetty wants a baby or not?
Isn’t news supposed to be more informative than this? We are a nation of emotions and we love to display them. In the process we have forgotten that we are also intelligent human beings and need to read and inculcate in ourselves better behavior then what we project. Street fights, chain pulling, Honour killing are given so much importance by the media that one incident triggers off the other and moreover they put down the Police as if only the news guys are working and the rest of us are paid to watch them display their rather good reporting skills.
The Electronic media is a step ahead, coz what we read we may not recollect but what we see is what we believe. And we only see women being ill treated on soaps, reality shows where every second person is a star and life is either rosy or scary. Media has created this big hype about how important success is in life that it has had a very negative impact and we see it every day. People will do anything murders, scams, robbery… This is a civilized society?
